Mindful Biology emerged from my experiences as a trauma survivor, disabled surgeon, accidental mystic, and longterm meditator.
Since early childhood, I’ve sought roots in Life’s tangle of love, loss, creativity, and hardship. As a minor under stress, I found solace in nature. During young adulthood, biological science provided answers that seemed reliable and beautiful. As I approached middle age, contemplative spirituality yielded sacredness and meaning.
Then came two transformative events: spinal problems ended my surgical career, and mystical visions fractured my understanding of Life.
After these ruptures, energies once used for professional success turned toward spiritual growth—which felt crucial to my survival. With the support of several traditions, both Eastern and Western, I gained clarity, compassion, and grounding.
To share and deepen my newfound connection with Life, I began developing in-person and online material around science, spirituality, embodiment, and ecological awareness.
